Mushroom Pods are the easiest way to learn how to grow mushrooms
How it Works
Inject the Mushrooms. Screw the mushroom syringe into the port and inject the liquid culture or spores.
Let it Grow. Store it at room temperature and watch while the mushroom mycelium branches through the pod.
Fruit the Mushrooms. When the pod turns white, put on the portable fruiting capsule and twist the air ring to control humidity.
Harvest the Mushrooms. Harvest then cook, or dry for tea, coffee or capsules. Get ready for another harvest.
Refill and Reuse. Use our ready made refill packs or your own ingredients then sterilize in an instant pot or pressure canner and go again.

Have Questions?
We Have Answers.
Get quick solutions to your common mushroom cultivation questions.
What kind of mushrooms can I grow?
You can grow any mushroom you want with Mushroom Pods. There's 2 types of substrates to choose from depending on where the mushroom is typically found in nature. Wood loving mushrooms and manure loving mushrooms. Pick the one that matches where the mushroom grows in nature.
How many harvests will I get?
This is dependent on the mushroom you're growing but most will continue to grow until the nutrients and water is depleted. If properly cared for you can get up to 3-4. (Reishi only flushes once)
How much will Mushroom Pods yield?
Approximately 1 lbs fresh harvest or 1 ounce after dehydration.
How do I refill and reuse Mushroom Pods?
We have detailed instructions and videos. Refilling requires a pressure cooker like an instant pot or pressure canner in order to sterilize the pod before injection.
Can I use spores with Mushroom Pods?
You can! Liquid culture is highly recommended since spores take longer to germinate and are more difficult to capture cleanly. It is recommended to test spore syringes on agar first to confirm they aren't contaminated.
What's the difference between spores and liquid culture?
Spores are like seeds of a plant and liquid culture is like a clone or cutting of a plant. To create liquid culture, spores are germinated to create mushroom mycelium which is then grown in a nutritious broth. All of our syringes contain liquid culture, not spores.
What happens if I get contamination?
Mushroom Pods are less prone to contamination due to the special injection-activated port we use, however since mushroom substrate is highly nutritious and needs to be sterile, contamination can still happen. If it does, email us a couple pics and we'll replace your pod. hello@bonsaimushrooms.com
